RB Cameron Davis breaks down early decision

FONTANA, Calif. - Cameron Davis made an early commitment to Washington in late January. He does not regret it one bit.

“I just feel like it was the best fit,” Davis said at the Passing Down Inland Empire Regional.

“I see myself like Myles Gaskin. Our running style is similar and I just like how they send their guys to the NFL. Coach (Keith Bhonapha) is a really great running backs coach.”

The Upland, Calif., three-star running back had other offers from Cal, Colorado and Utah but he found what he wanted with the Huskies and is not looking back.

“It’s no-nonsense,” Davis said of Washington. “Everything is pretty much straight-forward. They’re not going to tell you anything you just want to hear.”

And how the Huskies have used Gaskin, a former three-star running back, definitely helped Davis as he went through the recruiting process.

“I saw his speed and his ability to separate from the defense,” Davis said. “I feel like I can follow that and they developed him for that and I feel like they could do the same for me.”

No other visits are planned but recruiting has certainly not stopped. If anything, the Upland standout said, it’s gotten busier in recent weeks.

“I’ve been getting recruited harder now that I committed,” Davis said. “UCLA, Arizona State, Nebraska and a few others have been talking to me.

“I’m not going to take any more visits but obviously I’m not going to say I can’t talk to them if they want to talk to me. I’m solid.”

In his junior season, Davis finished with 1,066 yards and 20 touchdowns on 114 carries.
