Rivals100 linebacker Terrence Lewis has an official top 6, but as is the case with most lists of that sort, not all schools that made the cut are equal. Below, Rivals.com takes a look at the programs that actually have a chance of landing the touted prospect and ranks them by which school is most likely to win out in the end.
MORE: How things stand with 2021's top uncommitted linebackers
1. Florida
Lewis once said he preferred to leave the state for college, but has long since backed off that statement. These days, his relationship with UF’s coaching staff seems stronger than ever. And with Covid-19 forcing him to cancel spring travel, Gainesville is looking like a more convenient destination by the day. Lewis’ recruitment is far from over, sure, but Florida seems like the smart money for now.
2. Texas A&M
Lewis has taken a shine to Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher and is close with 2020 signee Donell Harris, so the Aggies have pushed in the door to his recruitment in recent months. The four-star linebacker has already been on campus, which gives A&M a bit of a leg up over some other schools in the running. Fisher will need to get Lewis in on an official visit to get this done, but the Aggies chances seem to increase by the month.
3. Nebraska
Lewis is yet to visit Nebraska but has claimed to be incredibly interested in the Huskers since late last year. How serious things get will be determined by whether or not he makes it to Lincoln for a visit this fall. For now, Nebraska must be considered a dark horse that could get an opportunity should spots at other schools fill. The fact that Lewis’ high school teammate Marcus Fleming signed with Scott Frost last cycle will help Nebraska hang around.
4. Tennessee
The Vols likely sit just outside the top three for now, but Tennessee could find itself in this mix this fall as it seems like a good bet to get an official visit. Lewis speaks highly of the Tennessee staff and seems to have built a strong bond with multiple assistant coaches. There’s work left to do, sure, but Jeremy Pruitt has positioned himself well to make a move down the stretch.
5. Miami
Miami is not on Lewis’ current list of favorites, but you get the feeling he could add the hometown school if the Hurricanes show signs of progress this fall. Manny Diaz and company are a longshot, sure, but leaving them off this list didn’t feel prudent. A lot can happen between now and signing day, and Lewis taking a shine to UM is one of those things. He has shown interest in the past, after all.
