Five-star Camar Wheaton is not much of a talker. He rarely partakes in interviews and isn't much for self-promotion on social media. He does, however, have an offer sheet as impressive as any running back in the country and contenders are slowly beginning to emerge.

The nation's top back has made recent visits to LSU, Oklahoma and Texas. Last year around this time, he made visits to Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame, as well as Alabama, and he's made stops at Texas A&M, TCU and even Kansas.

There's no exact timeline in place for Wheaton to make a commitment -- and there's reason to believe that he is nowhere close, which opens the door for other teams to stay in the mix. Wheaton intends to trim his list of suitors this summer -- even before the unexpected dead period. A decision will likely follow in the ensuing months.

1. Oklahoma

Wheaton has frequented Oklahoma's campus as much as any school in the country and it should be poised out the success Lincoln Riley and the Sooners have enjoyed in North Texas. Oklahoma was one of two schools to get the five-star on campus before the travel ban, which is probably a testament to the strong bond that has formed between Wheaton and the head coach. Right now, the Sooners have to like where they sit with the elite running back.

2. Texas

After making his way to Norman, Wheaton returned to Texas and the Longhorns re-asserted themselves in the race for the elite in-state running back. Stan Drayton was one of the holdovers from Tom Herman's coaching staff a year ago and he has a longstanding relationship in place with Wheaton already. The Longhorns are after a pair of Rivals100 running backs from Texas in this cycle and right now, they might be sitting better with Wheaton.

3. LSU

The Tigers were not a team oft-mentioned when it came to Wheaton at this time a year ago, but the team's offensive success and national championship run quickly led to a January visit. LSU has always had success recruiting elite running backs to Baton Rouge and coach Ed Orgeron found one from the Dallas area in 2020. If not for the travel ban, another LSU visit might have been on tap for Wheaton. The Tigers are a team to keep an eye out for whenever visits resume.

4. Alabama

Alabama was able to get Wheaton on campus a good bit during his junior year and assistant coach Charles Huff is doing a good job of maintaining a relationship with the five-star running back. Their relationship is more geared away from football, which has resonated with a prospect like Wheaton. The nation's top back was unable to get back to Alabama before the coronavirus travel restrictions, but expect the staff to push to be back as quickly as possible.
