Rankin sets first official visit

Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods defensive end Adrian Rankin has accumulated four scholarship offers and is ready to start working toward his college selection. He starts this month with his first official visit of the process.
"I am taking a visit up to Western Kentucky in October when they play Troy for Homecoming (Oct. 26)," Rankin said. "I talk to Coach [Don] Dunn every week, so [the relationship] is pretty strong. I get an update on them every week from Coach Dunn, and it's going pretty good talking to them."

It is going so well that the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Rankin has the Hilltoppers currently sit in the No. 1 position on his interest list.
"They are the team to beat right now," Rankin said. "I know Coach [Bobby] Petrino is the head coach and I like that because he came from Arkansas. A couple of my coaches went there and they told me it is a nice school, a nice program, so that caught my attention."
Besides Western Kentucky, Rankin also holds offers from Wake Forest, Ball State and Western Michigan. He is looking to visit those schools as well before making a commitment.
"[Wake Forest] gave me an offer at the beginning of the summer," Rankin said. "I haven't really been talking to them, but I get mail every week from the program. I am going to try to [visit] before football season is over.
"I have been talking a little bit to Western Michigan, and have a little interest in them. I am going to make a visit up to Ball State after I visit Western Kentucky."
Besides the four schools that have offered scholarships, Rankin continues to hear from Air Force and Duke.
