Range picks up offers despite injury

Carrollton (Texas) Creekview wide receiver Lonzie Range is keeping things in perspective. The 6-foot-2 wide receiver hasn't gotten down after a preseason torn ACL ended his senior season. However one thing that has helped keep his spirits high is the fact that his recruitment has yet to slow down, ensuring that he still has a bright future on the college gridiron.
"I tore my ACL before the season started in our scrimmage against Allen," Range said of his injury. "It was just a normal hit on the front and then I fell backwards. It sucks not playing but I'm very optimistic. I'm not dead or anything. I'm just rehabbing and, as much as I can, helping out with the team. I'm close with all the players so you can't take that away from me."

Range seems to be taking the injury in stride, and why shouldn't he? He recently picked up an offer from the University of Tulsa.
"Tulsa offered me at the end of last month," he said. "I'm interested and I went there for the UAB game. They seem pretty enthusiastic about the season and I like that."
The athletic receiver has the versatility to see the field at multiple positions.
"They say they'll put me wherever they need me," he said of the Tulsa coaching staff. "I don't care where they put me. As long as I'm playing, I'm happy."
While Tulsa has handed out the most recent offer, there are three other teams that are showing Range plenty of interest.
"SMU, TCU and North Texas are the schools that are recruiting me the hardest," Range said. "SMU and TCU haven't offered me officially but I think they will and North Texas said that the offer is in the mail.
"North Texas seems like a really good place," he said. "It's close to home which is good. I'm going to visit there soon. I'm not sure of the exact date."
Range also has positive things to say about the Mustangs at SMU.
"Coach Sawyer is a really funny guy and we've gotten really close," he said. "I went to their camps. I like the campus and like the coaching staff."
Range also plans on visiting TCU for its Thursday night game against Utah.
While his interest has picked up by a few schools, one school that has been scared off by his injury is Kansas, a school that offered Range all the way back in February. Still, Range isn't ready to name any favorites.
"I don't want to name any favorites," he said. "I'm just taking my time with my decision. I'm in no rush"
