Chamorro, 6-0, 155 pounds is one of the top kicking prospects in the West region and had a handful of scholarship offers including Pac 10 schools Washington, Arizona State and Oregon State. Chamorro took unofficial visits to all four programs over the summer.
"Durrell has been our starting kicker on varsity since his freshman year," defensive coordinator Pete Merandy said. "He did that on a team that played Mission Viejo for the championship."
"Durrell is such a great kid. Every set of parents would want their kid to be like him. Durrell is a very good athlete, too. He was very good in baseball but gave it up to concentrate on kicking. It looks like Durrell made the right decision. He's going to get his education paid for."
As a junior, the kicker was 10-15 on field goal attempts with a long of 48 yards. Chamorro also punts for Chino but was being recruited strictly as a kicker.
