Washington Township (N.J.) Westwood defensive tackle B.J. Raji was waiting until his season was over before thinking about where he wanted to take his official trips, but now the time has come, and he has two visits planned. Who will get the first shot at landing him?
“Now that we are out of the playoffs, I have set up visits to Rutgers the first weekend of December (Dec. 5) and BC on the second weekend (Dec. 12),” he commented. Other possibilities include Virginia and Hofstra, but he has not set any dates yet. Iowa and Wisconsin were once also favorites, but interest from both has waned in recent weeks.
Both schools that Raji will visit have extended scholarship offers, but he has several things to consider while on his trips.
“I want to get opinions from the players about the teams and coaches, and I want to see the schools’ outtake on the students,” he explained. “I want to see the environment and social and football aspects too.”
Raji stands 6-foot-2, weighs 295 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds. He will have one more chance to show off his skills before working on his final decision.
“We have a game on Thanksgiving – the Thanksgiving Day Classic – and the week after that I plan to sit down with my parents and coaches and see where I want to go,” he said.
BJ has a qualifying GPA and has already scored a 980 on the SAT.
