Rainey ready to announce

Yulee (Fla.) tight end Kelvin Rainey recently took a trio of visits to check out some programs around the Southeast.
"I just got back from Miami, before that I went to South Carolina and Georgia," Rainey said.

He talked about each of the schools, all of whom have offered, and how the visits went.
"South Carolina was really good," Rainey said. "It was good see the facilities and everything that they showed me. It was good to meet with the coaches and speak with them about things. I just liked everything I saw there."
"Georgia was the same thing," Rainey said. "I got to see their facilities. The facilities are nice. I like the coaching staff. I really enjoyed Coach Mark Richt, he is a nice guy."
"Miami was really good," Rainey said. "I was impressed with the facilities and the academics. I got a chance to talk to the Dean for sports management, which is what I want to major in. Everything was good."
"All three were good," Rainey added. "I was really impressed with all three."
Going into the visits, the South Carolina Gamecocks led for Rainey's services. He said that remains the same but admits one school has made a major jump into contention for his services.
"It is still South Carolina in the lead but Miami was really good," Rainey said. "I was really impressed by what I saw there (at Miami) and with how big they are with regards to academics. They (Miami) didn't emphasize too much football, they talked to me more about academics for a good two or three hours."
As for why the Gamecocks lead, Rainey attributed that to his familiarity with Steve Spurrier and staff.
"With South Carolina it is just that we have been really communicating for so long," Rainey said. "I am just really comfortable with them and I have a real good relationship with them. They are always checking up on me and seeing how I am doing."
Heading into the visits there was talk that Rainey would reach a decision upon finishing up in Coral Gables at the University of Miami. But he has since returned home and reviewed things a bit and is now unsure of when an announcement may come.
"Me and my family were just talking about it and we are going to sit down and have a talk," Rainey said. "I don't know when it will be."
At this time, Rainey has no other visit planned.
