Rainey excited about Terps

Virginia Beach (Va.) Landstown linebacker Quinton Rainey plans to take his first official visit of the recruiting season this weekend to College Park. What is the 5-foot-11, 220-pounder with 4.6-second speed looking for on his trip to Maryland?
"Really I just want to see how the school is and how close everything is," he said. "Besides that, I just want to meet the team and see the facilities and stuff.

"I like Maryland's football team a lot, although I don't know much about their school. They want me to play inside linebacker and I really like that they allow the linebackers to go free and run around. I feel their defense fits me."
Rainey has scheduled a second official visit to Delaware State on January 21st.
"I'm looking at them mostly because they are a school that fits me," he said. "They have a ranked pre-law program and that is what I really want to study in college. They are obviously a small school, but from what I know I like the team."
Two schools that have started to show more interest in the two-star prospect are Penn State and Ohio State.
"Neither team has offered, but they both just came into the picture in the last week or so," he said. "They both want me to come up for official visits and check out the school and surroundings. I'm definitely interested in what I hear. Neither has come down for an in-home visit, but Penn State said they plan to in January. If either of them offer they will definitely be up there on my list."
North Carolina, Kent and Syracuse are also still in the running for Rainey.
"I'd say North Carolina is still one of my top schools. I like their defense because they'll have me do a lot as a linebacker/safety," he said. "I'd say Syracuse is still kind of in the picture as previously the coaches were calling a lot, but now I feel they aren't as interested since I get calls from them every three weeks.
"Finally, Kent has been pretty good to me. They came by for an in-home visit last week and talked to my mom about schooling and how they'll take care of me. The only problem I have with them is that they are in the middle of nowhere."
The No. 27 player in Virginia confirmed that he has dropped Marshall, James Madison and North Carolina State from his list.
