Ragnow names a final seven

Victoria (Minn.) Chanhassen offensive tackle Frank Ragnow has continued to pile up the offers since picking up his first one more than a year ago. Sunday, he decided it was time to narrow his choices.
"I cut it down to seven," Ragnow reported. "The remaining schools are Minnesota, Florida State, Cal-Berkeley, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Missouri and Arkansas."

Ragnow went through each of the schools remaining on his list and detailed what they have shown him in his recruitment to survive the initial cut.
Minnesota: "That was my first offer, it's hometown, and getting a chance to play in front of my parents would be great. I love every single one of their coaches on the staff."
Florida State: "They are a great team and are looking really good this year. I have the chance to play early for them, and I love Coach [Rick] Trickett, I love Coach [Jimbo] Fisher and I love Coach [Tim] Brewster. They have great academics too, which I love."
California: "I haven't gotten a chance to see them, but I really want to take an official there because getting to know Coach [Zach] Yenser and Coach Sonny Dykes, it seems like they are such great people. It is the No. 1 public university in the country, so it would be a wonderful education."
Missouri: "When I visited back in the spring, they blew me away. They are an SEC school, and I really like talking to Coach [Josh] Henson. I think I want to get my parents down there to see them again because the spring visit really impressed me."
Vanderbilt: "They are kind of in the same boat as Cal -- I have built a wonderful relationship with Coach [Herb] Hand, and I love talking to him. They are in the SEC, and it is great academics, great football. I love Coach [James] Franklin too.
Arkansas: "Recently, I'd say, they've been recruiting me the hardest. They seem like they want me the most, and my visit blew me away. I love Coach [Sam] Pittman and Coach [Bret] Bielema. It's SEC football, it's a good school and their fans are crazy, so I liked a lot about them."
Wisconsin: "They were one of my favorite schools early before I had any offers because they were one of the first schools to contact me. Their offensive line is amazing -- it is O-line U., which you have to respect. It's great academics and a great campus."
Wisconsin is the most recent addition to Ragnow's list of 15 scholarship offers. He picked that up during a visit to Madison this month.
"I went into that visit thinking they had to blow me away. and they really blew me away," Ragnow said. "I know they came in late, but I respect them because they just wanted to see me first. If I could have come down earlier, I think I would have had the offer earlier."
Now that he has his list narrowed to a more manageable number, Ragnow will start to think about setting official visits so he can work toward a decision.
"We're in the process of scheduling official visits but still haven't scheduled any and still don't know which five we're going to schedule them with," Ragnow said. "I'm just going to keep on talking and getting to know these coaches. Hopefully, I'll get to see some of these schools and then it will come down to me -- I don't have a decision date, but it will probably be after the season."
Ragnow expects to take most of his visits following his senior season, but he expects to attend several Minnesota games due to the proximity.
