Ragas trims list

The 2015 season is approaching and Marrero (La.) Archbishop Shaw running back Trey Ragas has a few college favorites. He also has an idea about when he would like to make his college commitment.
"Well, I've narrowed it down to Utah, Kansas, Tulane, ULL, and Southern Miss as of right now," Ragas said. "I'm still open for any other school that offers me or is interested in me. I would like to make a decision around the second week or the middle of the season."

Ragas is trying to figure out if he wants to stay closer to home or get away from the area for college, but there were several factors he took into account as he trimmed his list.
"I did it either by the school program, the football program, or the coaches who are showing the most attention," Ragas said. "Am I talking to the coach every week or am I talking to the coach every now and then. I have some schools who have offered me but I only talk to the coach every two months
"I think it's better for me to go to a school where the coach keeps talking to me and keeps asking me to commit or asking me questions or asking me if there's anything about the school I would like to know. If they do all that they must want me more."
SEC programs Arkansas, South Carolina, and Tennessee continue to show significant interest in the standout running back, and he has a few college visits in mind for the season.
"I'm going to try and get to at least one Utah game and one Kansas game," Ragas said. "I want to go see Southern Miss against Mississippi State."
He may check out a few more college programs but his weekends will be limited since six of Archbishop Shaw's 10 regular season games are on Saturdays.
Ragas finished the 2014 season with 1,813 yards and 23 touchdowns on 237 carries and earned all-state, all-metro, and district offensive MVP honors. He is currently ranked No. 43 in the Rivals.com Louisiana Spring Top 50 for 2016.
