R250 OL Ekiyor commits to Michigan

After visiting his top two schools over the last couple weekends, Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral four-star class of 2018 offensive guard Emil Ekiyor made his decision Sunday to commit to the Michigan Wolverines.

WHAT HAPPENED

Ekiyor and his father drove down to Knoxville last weekend and saw Tennessee’s comeback win over Florida, calling the atmosphere in Neyland Stadium “just amazing.” After that visit Ekiyor announced that Tennessee was in his top two along with Michigan, which he planned to visit for their top 10 match-up with Wisconsin. Michigan was the first school to offer Ekiyor and he felt the love from the coaching staff because of that, but Saturday’s trip to Ann Arbor was his first game experience in the Big House and he left the building knowing he had found the place he wanted to play out his college career.

IN HIS WORDS

“Honestly it just felt like home.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

After naming his top two last week I received several questions asking if I thought Ekiyor would commit soon, and my answer was in the negative so obviously this was unexpected from my end. While Ekiyor had zeroed in on Michigan and Tennessee as his favorites, he seemed content with taking more time to determine where he would continue his career. In the 6-foot-4, 315-pound Ekiyor, Michigan is getting a mountain of a young man who is remarkably light on his feet for his size. Physically he is well ahead of the curve and even has a chance to be a rare early contributor on the offensive line when he arrives in college.
