R250 Hill lands his first SEC offer

Detroit Cass Tech four-star class of 2016 cornerback LaVert Hill's offer list is nearing double-digits after Tennessee joined that list earlier this week.
"I called just to check up on them and they said I had the offer," Hill said. "I had went down there with [teammates] one time, I think that was at the beginning of summer. It was pretty good, the campus was pretty good and their football facilities were pretty good."

Assistant coach Steve Stripling is Hill's primary contact at Tennessee, and he said that relationship is just starting to develop.
The offer from the Volunteers was Hill's ninth of the recruiting process, but his first from a Southeastern Conference school.
"I really like the SEC because of the atmosphere and the competition level," Hill said. "They play good teams every week."
Among the eight schools that had offered prior to Tennessee, Hill said he has heard a lot from Miami, Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan since the start of September. He made his first game visit of the season last weekend to a school that has yet to offer, though.
"I was at Notre Dame for the Michigan game. That went pretty good and they are showing interest too," Hill said. "Just the fan base and the atmosphere of it was pretty wild. They told me they have interest in me and they will be coming up to the school. I have great interest in them too."
Hill will be traveling to Michigan on Saturday with a couple teammates to see them host Miami (Ohio). His older brother, Delano Hill, plays safety for the Wolverines and he plans to return to Ann Arbor for the Oct. 11 game against Penn State. A trip to Ohio State is planned for the weekend of Oct. 25.
Detroit Cass Tech has started out 2-0 in their 2014 season. Hill has not recorded an interception yet but has several tackles and pass break ups on his stat sheet.
