R100 TE Upshur takes southern swing

With his dad, brother and cousin, Rivals100 tight end Naseir Upshur made the drive from Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Institute Charter School all the way to Florida State and stopped at South Carolina on his way home. The two schools are thought to be among Upshur's favorites heading into the season.
"It was great at Florida State," said the 6-foot-2, 238-pound Upshur. "Everything stood out to me. There was no disappointment. I had an opportunity to sit in the classroom and with the tight ends. I learned things that I haven't seen at any other schools. The way they use their tight ends is like the NFL. They showed me some things that I picked up on. I know how to read coverages and change my route.

"Coach Brewster was happy and very excited to see me," he said. "I was with him the whole time. In practice I was right next to him. I got to talk to coach Fisher too. He's a great guy. He respects my opinion and he loves me as a players and a kid. He really liked my personality."
After a day in Tallahassee, Upshur headed north and took a closer look at South Carolina on the way.
"It was good," said Upshur. "I got to see a practice. I've seen everything there before. They have a new indoor facility and I got to see everything. I feel like this is a great place. Everything went great with the coaches. I got a lot of energy from them and I feel really comfortable with them."
Four schools are battling it out for Upshur.
"Everybody is equal now," he said. "I got a chance to see Florida State and South Carolina. Now everybody is equal. Michigan, Florida State, South Carolina and Arizona State will be my official visits."
Upshur has said in the past that he will take official visits to Florida State for the Miami game on October 10 and to Arizona State for the New Mexico game on September 18.
