"Auburn and Ole Miss are still in the top of the top five coming behind with Mississippi State, Florida, and Alabama," Patterson said.
There is a reason both schools stand out at the top right now.
"They're the ones that are really on me the hardest and stuff like that," Patterson said.
Is there a leader beginning to emerge between to the two SEC schools?
"No, they're pretty much on the same level right now," Patterson said. "I keep in daily contact with coach Grimes and coach Luke to talk about how I would fit into their program and things like that."
Recently, Patterson was able to check out one of his top five programs when he made his way to Gainesville to get a closer look at the Florida Gators. The trip left a favorable impression on him.
"I had a great visit," Patterson said. "I had a great time to sit down with coach Summers and talk a little football with him and see where I would fit in. I talked with coach Muschamp and got a great feel for the campus. It's a nice feel down there."
Following The Opening the next stop on his schedule is Mississippi State's Big Dawg Camp. The trip will likely conclude his summer visits.
"Yeah, that's pretty much it," Patterson said. "I was going to try and hit up Alabama and Auburn, but I don't know if I'll be able to make that yet until the season."
Patterson plans to take his official visits to Ole Miss, Auburn, Mississippi State, Alabama, and Florida; however, he has not set any dates at this point.
After taking his visits, Patterson plans to announce his decision in November, and he does not have any plans to narrow his list further until his decision date.
"It's going to be on my decision date when I lay the hats out," Patterson said. "There will three on the table, whichever three that is."
Patterson is currently ranked No. 88 in the Rivals250 and the nation's No. 4 offensive guard. He is ranked No. 3 in the Rivals.com Mississippi Preseason Top 25.
