Rivals100 linebacker Ricky DeBerry was one of the highest rated visitors Virginia Tech hosted over the weekend. The Hokies are one of the Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher's star's top schools and the visit solidified their position with DeBerry.
"The visit went really well. I loved it. I got a chance to spend a lot of time with coach Frank Beamer. I got a chance to talk to coach Wiles and coach Bud Foster too. I love coach Foster and his defense. I really like watching them play and he says he knows how to use me.
"This is really the first time I got a good look at the campus. I know most of the times I visit I only get to see the football facilities but this time I got to see the whole campus and I got to see some of the players too. I liked a lot of what I saw there. Everything was really good and I just can't wait to get back up there again."
Almost 60 schools have offered DeBerry and he recently narrowed his list down to 20. Virginia Tech is in very good position with DeBerry after this visit.
"Virginia Tech is definitely up there. It's always a great feeling going up to Virginia Tech. they always have one of the top defenses in the nation. I definitely want to be a part of a great defense. It's instate and the state of Virginia has never had a national championship and, if it is possible, I would love to be on the team that does that. Virginia Tech is definitely among my top schools."
DeBerry already has his next visit scheduled.
"I'm planning on narrowing my list down again before the season. I want to get to some of the schools I haven't been to yet. I know I'm going to Ohio State on April 18. Right now we are discussing a trip out to Nebraska some time in June."
