R100 DB makes Florida swing

Over the past five days Rivals100 defensive back Marcus Lewis visited Miami, Florida State and Florida. The stand out from Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga seemed to really enjoy each visit.
"It turns out I had this Miami offer for a while but I didn't know about it," said the 6-foot-1, 180-pound Lewis. "I got on campus and watched spring practice. We met with the dean and talked academics. I had lunch with the players and coaches. I met with coach Golden and coach Williams. After that I took a tour of the campus. They had a whole day planned out for me. It was nice.

"The coaches told me I'm coming in at a prime position," he said. "I would have a chance to start as a true freshman. They are only going to bring in two cornerbacks and they want me to be one of them. They don't throw out a lot of offers in my area. My mom liked both coach Golden and coach Williams."
"The Florida State visit went really well," Lewis said. "My mom and I loved it. Coach Fisher, coach Kelly and coach Sunseri do a great job out there. The facilities, academics and everything looked good. Coach Fisher told me I could be an impact player immediately. They're short on defensive backs and I could get some playing time as a punt returner and kick returner. He liked that I could play inside, outside or at safety. They don't have a lot of guys with that type of versatility.
"I talked with coach Muschamp, coach T-Rob and I watched practice," he said. "It was an open practice and there were a lot of people there. They're also short at the cornerback position. They need guys that can come in and play. Florida doesn't just offer people. The coaches said when they offer a player they really want them. The coaches were really real with me. They said I would be playing in the SEC, the best conference in America, and playing against that type of competition will make me a better player."
Lewis is a former Virginia Tech commit and vowed to take his time before committing again. With that in mind, Lewis said he would be naming some top schools some time in the next few weeks.
