Quite the camping trip for Heard

Looking for better testing results than St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter wide receiver Kris Heard after the Athens NIKE Training Camp may be hard to find because his results have had colleges knocking ever since.
Known as somewhat of a sleeper in the beginning, the 5-foot-9, 158-pound two-way player has emerged on to the scene as a prospect on the up and up. Three offers are now in his possession with Baylor, Houston, and Ball State completing the trio. Camp trips are what Heard believes have sparked this rush.

"Yeah, I went to Tulsa, Duke, and then I'm headed to Northwestern this week," Heard said. "There are a lot of schools that seem real interested that want to see what I do during the season. I've just been running really good times and putting up some big numbers."
Those big numbers include a 3.88-second shuttle time and a 4.42 forty-yard dash at the NIKE camp. Many schools who have seen those numbers either on paper or at camp look to be on the verge.
"Miami of Ohio seems real close," Heard said. "Texas Tech said the offer was coming. The Tulsa receiver coach wants to make me an offer, but it's up to the head coach."
Another interesting twist to the recruiting surge is that some schools are looking at him for defense while others prefer him on offense.
"Bigger schools want me to play corner and the smaller schools like me at receiver," Heard said. "I would probably like to play receiver more, but I think I'm also a natural corner because of how well I did up at the Duke camp."
Date for decision looks set at the first month of the season tentatively and whether or not he gets to every possible visit is up in the air.
"I'm going to wait for the first couple of games and then be done with it," he said. "It's a big possibility I won't make it through all the visits if the right offer comes and feels right."
"I'm interested in all the schools that have offered now, but I just want to get as many as I can to weigh my options."
