QB Ward has two early favorites

Akron has extended an early verbal scholarship to one of Pennsylvania's top junior signal callers and the Zips are in a good position with him.
Max Ward, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound pro-style quarterback from Steelton (Pa.) Highspire is thinking about his plans for the near future these days.

"I think I'm going up to Toledo and Akron but those are the only two for now," Ward said. "I was going to go up to Rutgers but I missed it. I was the quarterback for a 7-on-7 tournament and I couldn't go."
Akron is the only school that has verbally offered but Rutgers and Pitt are showing interest.
"I get letters from Penn State but they're not really contacting me like the others," he explained.
Last fall Ward took a trip to Rutgers. It went well and it caused him to take a serious look at the school.
"I went up to their game against Illinois and I loved it up there," he said. "I would have to say Akron (is his favorite) because they're showing me the most love but I also like Rutgers."
Ward said he also took two trips to Penn State.
