QB targets Tuesday decision

Three-star Tucker (Ga.) quarterback D.T. McDowell plans to make his college decision public on Tuesday after meeting with his coaches at school.
“It’s between Mississippi State and Troy State,” he said. “I know a lot of people expect it to be Mississippi State because it’s a bigger school in the SEC and all that, but I like the opportunity I have a Troy State, too. It’s a good program, and they’ve been D-I for a couple of years.

“I’m going to write down all the pros and cons of each place tonight, and I hope to have a decision on Tuesday after I meet with my coaches.”
McDowell (6-1, 190, 4.57), who was once committed to Nebraska but re-opened his recruitment when the Cornhuskers withdrew the opportunity to play quarterback, organized a late official visit to Mississippi State this past weekend.
“Everything went well,” he said. “It was a good visit. I had a lot of fun with their players. I think they have some young talent there that’s going to make them pretty good in a year or two under coach Croom. And I liked coach Croom and his staff. They seem like good guys to play for.”
McDowell is rated the No. 12 dual-threat quarterback in the nation by Rivals.com. He’s also a top baseball prospect who would like to pursue both sports at the college level.
