Position: Quarterback
Size and Speed: Stone is 6-foot-4, weighs 220 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds. He bench presses 315 pounds and squats 250.
Statistics: Stone threw for 1,600 yards and 12 touchdowns as junior. As a sophomore, he had 1,800 yards passing and 20 TDs. He threw only five interceptions that season and broke the conference passing rating mark.
Honors: Stone was third-team all-conference as a junior. He was second-team all-conference as a sophomore.
Favorite Schools: Pittsburgh, Maryland, Tennessee, Florida, Michigan, NC State, Penn State, Virginia Tech.
Skinny: After a stellar sophomore season, in which he led his team to a 9-1 record, Stone’s statistics suffered during his junior year as Bishop McDevitt struggled to a 2-8 finish.
Stone, who plays free safety on defense, considers himself a drop-back passer, but he can also avoid the rush when necessary.
“I can take a hit, too,” he said. “I took a lot last year.”
He’s poised for a big senior season, which should attract interest from a number of schools. So far, he’s received scholarship offers from Pittsburgh, NC State and Iowa. He said he expects to receive an offer shortly from Penn State and is getting many looks from Tennessee.
“I have no favorites at this point,” he said. “I’ll go anywhere.”
