QB Polony making strides
If Whitehall, Pennsylvania quarterback Chris Polony improves as much between his junior and senior seasons as he did between his sophomore and junior seasons, the sky may be the limit for the young man.
At 6-foot-3 and 200-pounds Polony has the size to be a player in college. He has run the 40-yard dash in 4.78 seconds, so he has more than adequate mobility as well.

As a sophomore at Whitehall, Polony was thrust into action halfway through the season. The starter had gone down to injury in the second game, so that opened a door for the young man.
That year Polony completed 57-of-128 passes for 611 yards, eight touchdowns and 10 interceptions while rushing eight times for 34 yards and a touchdown.
Last year Polony was the full-time starter and his statistical increase was drastic. He completed 110-of-218 passes for 1,420 yards with 14 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He also improved as a scrambler, rushing 74 times for 307 yards and eight scores.
"I knew the system pretty well (last year) and so I think the coaches had a little more faith in me going into my junior year," he explained. "They wanted to open things up a little bit."
Polony and Whitehall's spread offense led the school to a 7-5 record and a championship in the postseason.
All of that has gained the young man some attention in recruiting circles. He has received some form of mail from Virginia, UConn, Rutgers, NC State, Pitt, Maryland, Boston College, Minnesota and Syracuse.
"I got invited to junior days by Virginia, UConn and Maryland, and most of the other letters were just informational or about summer camps," he said.
"I visited UConn during the season last year to watch a game, but other than that I haven't been to any schools. I thought it was awesome. The facilities were really nice, the game was great and the atmosphere was awesome."
Polony said his favorites at this point are UConn, Rutgers, Maryland, Pitt and Virginia.
