QB Newsome sets decision date

Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy quarterback Kevin Newsome is set to announce his decision on Tuesday at a local restaurant in the Hampton Roads area. The 6-foot-3, 217-pounder will decide between three schools according to his father, Kevin Newsome Sr..
"It is down to Penn State, Virginia Tech and Boston College," said Newsome's father on Tuesday. "We're announcing Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. EST at Roger Brown's Restaurant in Portsmouth, Va. The announcement itself will likely be closer to 6 p.m. but it starts at 5:30."

Newsome's father said that his son will have three hats to choose from, although it's likely to come down to two schools.
"Virginia Tech and Penn State and Boston College, those are the three," he said. "It's more between Virginia Tech and Penn State but Boston College is in there, Kevin really liked it. We didn't get a chance to see Boston ourselves but Kevin liked it a lot, so we will have a BC hat there as well."
Newsome wanted to wait until the U.S. Army All American Bowl to announce his decision but being a January enrollee he felt he couldn't wait.
"Kevin's enrolling in January so he needs to get the paperwork and everything done," his father said. "He knows where he's going so there's no point waiting. He'll do the hat trick thing tomorrow and let everyone know."
Rumors have run strong for both Virginia Tech and Penn State in recent weeks and both programs need a quarterback in this class very badly. One of them will have the nation's No. 4 dual-threat quarterback in the fold as of Tuesday night.
