QB named player of week in Cleveland

Menton (Ohio) Lake Catholic two-star dual-threat quarterback Rick Stanzi had the type of start to the season that people only dream about. In the first game he was impressive, but in week two against Benedictine he was 16 of 32 for 214 yards passing and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 107 yards and two scores, helping him be named the Cleveland player of the week.
"I don't know if it's a case really of me being better more than our team being better," Stanzi, who is 6-foot-4 and 204 pounds, said. "We're a better team overall. Watching film from last year and comparing it to this year, it's easy to see that our line, our running game and a lot of our other players have made great improvements."

But those improvements are nothing without the great play of Stanzi, who is one of the best kept secrets at quarterback in Ohio.
Stanzi said at this point he's not worried a ton about recruiting because he's focused on the season, but Akron, Miami of Ohio and Bowling Green have already been in contact with him and made it clear he's a priority for them.
"I've talked to them, and I like what I hear, but I'm still going to be focused on my season," he said. "I also plan to get another week's worth of games and then send some more tapes out. I think people will like what they see."
