QB Kilgore thinking UAB or Bama

Oakman (Ala.) High quarterback Chad Kilgore is frustrated and confused with his team’s performance, but can find some comfort in the progress of his recruiting.
“I’ve been talking to UAB, Florida Atlantic, Alabama and Auburn,” Kilgore said. “UAB makes me feel like they’re going to recruit me pretty good, and the Florida Atlantic coach sounds like they may want me, too. I will definitely take visits there.”

He’s already made unofficial visits to UAB and Alabama, but plans on scheduling all of his five official visits in the near future.
“I’ll definitely visit UAB and Alabama, and hopefully will visit Florida Atlantic and Auburn, too,” Kilgore said. “Maybe Kentucky, too. I’m not sure yet. I’m not sure when they’ll be, and I haven’t set any days yet.
“I’ve unofficially visited Alabama and UAB; last week I was at Alabama and the week before I visited UAB. I really liked UAB, they were nice to me, and Alabama’s coaches were real nice, too, so what else can you ask for, except for them to be nice?”
For now, he is trying to focus on the field, and Oakman’s early season struggles. A driven competitor, losing has drained Kilgore, and he hopes to get back to better performances, for his team and himself.
“We’ve kind of started off bad. I mean I don’t know if we were overrated or everyone didn’t play to their potential,” he said. “I think we’re better than we play, and I think as individuals we’re better than other teams, but we just don’t put it together as a team. I try to get my receivers the chance to catch the ball whether he catches it or not, but as long as they try there’s nothing you can really say. I try to help my teammates and they try to help me, so there’s not much more we can do.
“I just hope we step up and play to our potential before it’s over for me. Most of the guys I play with aren’t going to the next level, so I just want to win for these guys. That’s the most important thing for me right now, is that we win for them.”
