QB Kafka talks recruiting and more

Chicago (Ill.) St. Rita three star ranked quarterback prospect Mike Kafka (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) opened the 2004 football season in grand fashion last Friday night, as Kafka and the Mustangs defeated Homewood-Floosmoor 52-28.
"Our offensive line played great on Friday," Mike Kafka said. "Our offense was really clicking up front, and the line did a great job of opening holes as well as giving me time to make reads. I thought I played decent. I rushed for 100 yards and passed for 85-90 yards I think. Our running back Wade Weyer ran for 339 yards and 5 touchdowns, so needless to say we didn't need to pass the ball too much."

Kafka, who has offers from both Stanford and Northwestern this summer, knows that starting today the phone could be very busy.
"My coach told me that several schools have indicated that they will be calling me starting on Wednesday. I'm still getting a lot of mail from Cal, Pitt, Wisconsin as well as from Michigan State and Wyoming."
Does Kafka have any early favorites?
"My favorites are the same. I like Northwestern and Stanford as well as Cal, Michigan State and Wisconsin."
"I'm also planning to check out a few college games this fall. I'm planning on seeing the Stanford at Notre Dame game as well as a Wisconsin game and a few Northwestern games."
