QB Holman lands first offer

Getting offer No. 1, which came Monday from Marshall, was every bit as sweet as junior quarterback Justin Holman of Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson always thought it would be.
"I was very excited," Holman told Rivals.com. "They say the first school that offers you really wants you. They went out on the limb for you."

A day before getting his offer, Holman was named quarterback MVP at the Rivals.com/VTO Sports Georgia Elite 100 camp in Marietta.
"I feel like I performed well," Holman said. "But I can always do better. There's always room for improvement."
According to Holman, who said he threw for about 750 yards in 2011 for his run-oriented squad that featured Rivals100 running back Mike Davis, Purdue, Troy and Wake Forest also are showing interest. The 6-feet-4, 170-pounder thinks Wake could be next to offer.
Thus far, he has visited Alabama State, Troy and Vanderbilt. This weekend, he will check out South Carolina with some of his teammates.
With one offer in hand, Holman is hopeful more are on the way.
"It's definitely a great step," he said.
