QB Has Three In Mind

One of the best quarterback prospects on the east coast has a short list, and he’s looking at three local schools.
“I like Virginia, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech,” said 6-foot-3, 210-pound quarterback Josh Mabe. “I think each of the schools has a great environment, and the atmosphere is great at the games. I’ve talked to all the coaches and I like them all.”

Mabe is also being recruited by Michigan and Syracuse. He spent most of his time in state visiting schools and going to camps.
“I’ve been to the Virginia summer camp,” Mabe said. “I’ve also taken unofficial visits to Virginia and Virginia Tech. I know I want to take official visits to those two schools and Tennessee. I’m not sure where the other two official visits are going to go yet.”
Last year at Appalachia, Va., Mabe was one of the most productive players in the state. He passed for 1,950 yards with 19 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He also ran for 850 yards with 15 touchdowns on the ground.
“I run the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds, and that makes me dangerous with my arm and on the ground,” Mabe said.
He has prototypical size for a quarterback, and with his speed he becomes one of the most versatile quarterbacks you’ll find. He’s also a very intelligent player, and a true student of the game. So does he have any idea when he’d like to make his decision?
“I’m going to wait and see who I get offers from,” Mabe said. “I’m probably just going to wait until one school sticks out as the place I can see myself at.”
