Hank Bachmeier has been making the rounds early in his junior season.

His weekend trip to Minnesota – even though the Gophers lost to Maryland – will definitely be a memorable one.

The four-star quarterback from Murrieta (Calif.) Murrieta Valley said a lot of things stood out about the Big 10 school, and since he has family connections in the area, Minnesota is definitely a contender in his recruitment.

“The facilities are top-notch,” Bachmeier said. “I think the finished product will be one of the best in the country. The Carlson School of Management is a great institution. And coach (P.J.) Fleck stood out. He is definitely a passionate person.”

Bachmeier’s comments on Fleck are really no surprise and the two have developed a great relationship in recent months.

The four-star that it was definitely a big deal that Fleck flew out to Southern California recently to meet with him – and it could be a factor as Bachmeier works closer to a decision.

Getting to spend some time with Fleck over the weekend definitely stood out.

“For example, I'm in his office and somehow he gets up and runs a route showing me these acute details in the route,” Bachmeier said. “Just something I don't think another coach would ever do.”

The Murrieta Valley standout has recently visited Cal and Colorado. A trip to Boise State is also being planned for later this season.

New interest is coming in from Louisville, Florida, Alabama, Florida State, Vanderbilt and others.

So far this season, Bachmeier has thrown for 1,321 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions.
