QB Challenge: Five under-the-radar prospects that stood out in Atlanta

A year ago at the first-ever Rivals Quarterback Challenge Presented by Under Armour stop in Atlanta, a group of unknown prospects used excellent performance to put themselves on the map. Chase Brice went from having no offers to being a four-star and a Clemson commitment, while 2018 prospect Trevor Lawrence went from having no offers to being one of the nation’s top overall players.

So which players could be the next to emerge? We take a look at some under-the-radar players that impressed at Sunday’s event.

QB Isaiah Green

Recruiting Wrap: Green has an offer from Arkansas State.

Performance: Green has been ranked as a three-star on Rivals.com since the initial rankings expanded prior to last fall, but his recruitment has yet to catch up with his talents. Green is a versatile athlete who can also make plays with his legs, but he’s a passer first and he showed that by winning Sunday’s competition. Once a few more quarterback dominoes fall, Green could be in line for more offers.

QB Jarren Williams (2018)

Recruiting Wrap: Williams has offers from Louisville and Florida State.

Performance: Williams, a rising junior, was invited to the event off of his film and he picked up two offers in the days leading up to the event. He didn’t disappoint once he was there, making the finals and nearly coming home with the title. If his showing on Sunday and interest from the Cardinals and Seminoles is any indication, more schools will be on board soon.

QB Nick Holm

Recruiting Wrap: Holm is waiting for his first offer.

Performance: Holm already has plenty of excellent on-field performances on his resume. On Sunday, he added an impressive camp showing to his list. He recently transferred from a smaller school to powerhouse Deerfield Beach, giving him a chance to showcase his skills against tougher competition. The 6-foot-3, 186-pound prospect has ideal size and throws a terrific deep ball, and there has to be a school looking for someone with his skills, even though it may come later down the line.

QB Zac Montgomery (2018)

Recruiting Wrap: Montgomery has offers from FAU and USF.

Performance: Montgomery is undersized, but showed a very good arm and was very accurate while earning a ticket to the finals. He recently transferred from a small school in Tennessee to Oxford, a perennial power in Mississippi. Considering he’s just an underclassman, Montgomery will likely garner more interest as the process moves along.

QB Justin Fields

Recruiting Wrap: The 2018 prospect is waiting on his first offer.

Performance: Fields is another rising dual-threat star that showed his arm can be just as dangerous as his legs. Fields gets the ball out quickly and was very accurate when throwing on the move. Former four-star prospect Lorenzo Nunez was the last quarterback to come out Harrison High, and Fields appears to be on his way to following in his footsteps.
