Junior to Watch: Jeff Kline
School: Los Alamitos, Calif.

Position: Quarterback
Size and Speed: Kline stands 6-foot-3, weighs 185 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds.
Statistics: Kline hit on 58 of 103 passes for 788 yards and 9 touchdowns. Kline is a mobile quarterback, fitting the mold of the modern field general that can make something happen when the play breaks down. He rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns with long run of 47 yards as a junior.
Honors: Kline was an all-league selection as a junior.
Favorite Schools: Kline has no immediate favorites according to Los Al head coach John Barnes, but his talented signal-caller is hearing from the likes of UCLA, USC, Cal, Oregon and Notre Dame.
The Skinny: Kline filled in quite admirably last season when senior starter and Fresno State bound Tim Bessolo went down with an injury. Kline played the last six games for Los Al including nice run in the playoffs.
“Jeff is growing like a weed,” Barnes said. “There’s no telling how big he’s going to be.”
Another thing to like about Kline is his overall athleticism. “Jeff moves around better than any quarterback we’ve had here,” Barnes said. That is saying a mouthful. Barnes has a very impressive string of quarterbacks moving on to the next level, dating back to SF Giant first-baseman J.T. Snow in the 80’s.
“Kline is the complete package as a quarterback,” Barnes said. “He is very comfortable, poised and has a good arm.”
Kline is also a standout in baseball.
Kline could be one of those players who will see his stock soar during his senior season and end up being one of the most sought after quarterbacks on the West Coast.
