"I've always been a Maryland fan. They have an outstanding football program. So I decided to commit."
Who was your second choice?
"Virginia. They offered me too."
What did you like better about Maryland?
"The coaching staff. I really like the Maryland coaching staff."
Did you talk with the Maryland coaches about playing as a true freshman?
"I don't think I'll redshirt the way they are talking."
Was staying close to home a factor in your decision?
"It was something of a factor, but not a large one."
The 6-foot-3 and 230 pounder from Greenbelt (Md.) Roosevelt was an all-county selection his junior season. Covington is the Rivals100.com number eight weakside defensive end prospect and has a four star ranking.
