Purdue impressive, Marshall next

Doylestown (Pa.) Central Bucks South offensive lineman Dave McClain took his first official visit of the recruiting season when he tripped to Purdue last weekend. Was he close to committing?
"I thought about it, but I wanted to finish out my officials," said the 6-foot-4, 335-pounder. "I thought the coaches were great at Purdue and that's what I'm looking for. I want a team where the coaches will be around for my four or five years and a staff I'm comfortable with. They're the ones who will be ordering me around."

McClain's next trip will be to Marshall on Dec. 10 and he'll likely follow that with a trip to Rutgers on Dec. 17.
"The Rutgers trip isn't set yet," he said. "I'll know more this week. Rutgers and Marshall have already been in this week and Tennessee will be coming Thursday and will be able to tell me if I have an offer or not. Louisville will also be in the house this week. They haven't offered yet either, but seem very interested."
McClain also remains open to schools like Virginia Tech, South Carolina, LSU and others.
"I'm getting into this a little late because I was committed to Maryland but we both decided that wasn't a fit," he said. "Now it's about trying to get a few more offers as things open up."
