Statistics: Stackhouse could not recall his defensive stats from last season.
Favorites: Stackhouse said he likes almost all of the I-A colleges in Florida-- South Florida, UCF, Florida, and Florida State.
Skinny: Punta Gorda-Charlotte defensive tackle Shawn Stackhouse is hearing from at least 30 schools regularly through the mail. He said he receives regular letters from South Florida, UCF, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Pittsburgh, and Maryland. He doesn't have any scholarship offers yet but if he had the opportunity he would prefer to attend college in the state of Florida.
"I like most of the schools in Florida here," Stackhouse said. "I like USF, UCF, UF, and FSU. We've got a lot of good programs."
What are the things he's going to look for when choosing a school?
"Education," Stackhouse said. "I want to go into sports medicine or physical therapy so they've got to have a medical program. I will look at the school, how nice the people are, the quality of the team, and the coaching staff."
Stackhouse says defensive tackle is his main position but he could possibility also play on the offensive line this season.
"I was playing offensive tackle up to this past year and then they switched me over to defense and I've done pretty good there," Stackhouse said. "We're lacking some offensive tackles this year so I might be going both ways."
Stackhouse didn't attend any spring games during the month of April.
"I wanted to go to UF's spring game but the day of their spring game was the day before the Nike camp so I didn't go to any of them."
Stackhouse, who grew up watching UF and FSU, plans to go to a few camps this summer.
"I want to go to the UF camp, maybe the FAU camp, Down & Dirty, and I'm not sure if I'll go out of state," Stackhouse said. "I'll probably just stay around here."
Charlotte High School's spring football practice begins on May 1st and they have a spring game against Sebring on May 17th.
