Pugh adds one more offer before decision

With a decision scheduled for Friday, Charlotte (N.C.) Independence cornerback Makiri Pugh has a top four. Today, one more school threw their hat in the ring for the 6-foot-0, 194-pounder. Who offered and was it too little too late?
"I got an offer a couple hours ago tonight from Virginia Tech," he said. "Last week they came up and saw me practice and then they were texting me over the weekend.

"The thing is, it's one of those things where I'm almost ready to make a decision. I still have to look at some things, but it's hard to put them in there when I've grown comfortable with what I have. If they offered sooner there may have been a chance they could get up there. On my original list, I was really interested, but sometimes things happen late and don't end up the way you plan."
Does Virginia Tech have a shot with Pugh on Friday?
"They are on my mind, but it's hard to change what's going on," he said. "I even have a press conference set up and I think I may have made a decision, so they aren't in it.
"Right now I'm down to Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Virginia."
What stands out about the Tigers, Bulldogs, Yellow Jackets and Cavaliers?
"I was interested in all of them before the recruiting process started," he said. "Clemson has proven defensive backs and I feel I may fit in best there out of all the schools at the safety or boundary corner positions," he said. "Of course, Georgia plays six cornerbacks, three on each side. If you can play, they will play you.
"Virginia is a unique place and somewhere that is a lot different than the things I've seen before. Finally, I've sat down with coach Hunter and Gailey at Georgia Tech and they have an interesting defense for cornerbacks. They're coaches have also sent players to the pros and it's in Atlanta."
As stated above, Pugh officially scheduled a press conference on Friday for 4 p.m. at Velocity in Charlotte.
