Greensburg (Pa.) Greensburg Central Catholic 2014 linebacker Nate Stone is still looking for his first offer. However, the 6-foot-1, 220-pounder is taking trips right now with his most recent visit to Penn State on Saturday.
"I was actually there and it was really nice," he said. "It was my first time there for a game. For me, just going into it, I had heard so much from my uncle who had been there before. He repeatedly told me how nice the atmosphere was compared to everywhere else I had been and it was unreal. The game was crazy to watch."
Stone got time with the coaches on the trip.
"It went pretty well," he said. "I got a minute with Coach Vanderlinden and my recruiting coordinator. He told me he'd be out to see me soon and to keep up the good work. He mentioned that they are taking a look at me."
Stone is contemplating a trip this week to Cornell.
In the meantime, he is receiving looks from numerous other programs too including Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Ohio, Buffalo and Temple.
Does he like anyone?
"Pittsburgh for me is a nice school and so close to home. It's a good academic schools and that's part of it," he said. "Since I was little, I've liked Penn State a lot. Going to see them this weekend brought that up again and I was able to see how much I liked a visit.
"I can say that Akron is up there for me and so is Cincinnati, they are another one of my favorites."
Helping his team to a 6-3 record, Stone and Greensburg Central Catholic head into the playoffs. Meanwhile, Stone has posted over 300-yards receiving and eight total touchdowns on the year. He's also leading his team in tackles on defense.
"For me, I've looked at my film this year and I'm so much faster than last year," he said. "I move sideline to sideline better and meeting in the hole, my speed and reaction is a lot better. I've really progressed."
