Penn State landed a commitment from one of the top prospects on their board in four-star Derrek Pitts. The Charleston (W.V.) South Charleston star picked the Nittany Lions over Maryland and West Virginia.
IN HIS OWN WORDS...
"That coaching staff is unbelievable," Pitts said. "They're on top of everything. They talk to my mom whenever she calls. They invite my family to events with or without me. They're just on top of everything.
"I've seen a lot of what's going on in their recruiting right now and that influenced me a lot," he said. "They're putting together a great class right now and I feel like I fit right in with that.
"I went down to the cook out and it was unbelievable," said Pitts. "My whole family was down there. I fit in with the recruits they have and the players. I was great all around. Nothing was disappointing that day."
RIVALS' REACTION...
Pitts has progressed well over the past few seasons and become a ball-hawking and physical safety that the defense can rely on in the middle of the field. Look for Pitts to make an impact early in his career if he can pick up the system quickly.
