PSU is dream school for DB

Safety and wide receiver Anthony Smith out of Orange, N.J. is certainly becoming a highly recruited prospect for 2006. However, he hasn't heard from the one school he favors the most.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder has received mail from South Florida, Akron, Virginia, Rutgers, Boston College, Connecticut, Tennessee and Maryland, although he'd like to hear from Penn State.

"I like that school," he said. "That's my favorite college football team and they'd be my top school if they recruited me."
This season Orange went 3-6 as Smith recorded 89 tackles and an interception for a touchdown on defense. He added 1,319 all-purpose yards and 10 total touchdowns on offense.
"Everybody had a lot more fun this year, we were in more games than the year before when we lost every game," he said. "I think I did okay, this was my first year playing on the varsity level, but I got stronger and could have done better."
Smith is still wide open in his recruiting, but recently took in a junior day at Maryland.
"It's good, I liked it," he said. "They showed us everything and took us to the locker rooms and through the campus, it was good."
Smith is being recruited at both safety and wide receiver; does he favor one over the other?
"I prefer to play safety," he said. "I like defense more than offense and I've grown to play defense more."
This spring Smith is looking at attending either the Nike Camp at Penn State or the Adidas Camp at Tennessee. He is also considering attending the Blue Chip Combine at Rutgers in May as well as camps at Rutgers, Boston College and Maryland this summer.
