With so many senior prospects having committed early, Damian Prince continues to go at his own pace. The five-star offensive tackle from Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara was rumored to have begun setting up official visits, including one to Florida.
"That's not true," said the 6-foot-5, 292-pound Prince. "I haven't talked to Coach (Will) Muschamp in about a week or so. We were thinking about a visit but we didn't set a date or talk about which game it would be.
"I had told him it probably wouldn't be for a game because most of my games are on Saturdays. I told him I'd probably get down there after the season, probably for a basketball game or something. He said they would try to make that work."
The Gators are one of Prince's finalists. Other teams in contention include Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Maryland, Ohio State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt. Each teams' fans are waiting on pins and needles to hear if their team has made it to the next round of Prince's recruitment.
"I'm definitely closer to making more cuts," said Prince. "My coach and I haven't talked about it much right now because we both understand how important this season is and that's where our focus is right now.
"I haven't had any recruiting talk with him since camp started. I want to make more cuts down to six or seven. It'll happen when my coach brings it up and we get to talk about it."
Bishop McNamara won its first game and will play next on September 6 at North Bethesda (Md.) Georgetown Prep.
