Preston likes LSU early

It didn't take Jalen Preston long to emerge as one of the top prospects in Texas for the 2018 class, as evidenced by the early LSU scholarship offer.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound wide receiver was a standout performer at the Rivals Speed & Skills Challenge Presented by Under Armour in Houston last weekend and figures to only continue garnering attention from colleges.

For now, the offer from the Tigers is a notable one.
"It's big, man," Preston said. "I'm just blessed. I'm going to play the recruiting process slow and wait it out. I'm still young, so I've got a while to go.
"But what stands out to me is all the athletes they have at LSU. For me to be one they want is crazy."
The promise and potential Preston has already shown is the reason why LSU and Houston have jumped in with offers. Preston said he expects many coaches to swing by Manvel, Texas this spring to check him out in person.
"At Manvel, it seems like I'm meeting coaches every day and it's nuts over there," Preston said. "I haven't heard from many others lately because we're in boot camp right now."
Preston competed at the Texas A&M summer camp last year and intends to return this year.
"I proved myself a lot there," Preston said. "I was one of the top people in camp. I'm looking forward to it again because I really liked the intensity of the coaches."
While it's still far too early in the process for Preston to name any favorites, he did mention one school he'd love to land an offer from.
"I've always been rooting for Oregon -- that's my team," Preston said. "That would be a dream offer for me right now. The uniforms, the fans and the location are all things that I like about them. That would be huge."
