Prep QB fielding interest

New York native and quarterback Jawan Simmons opted to go the prep school route for a semester to extend the recruiting process a little bit and perhaps draw interest from some other schools.
Though no schools have offered yet, Simmons, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback, is drawing interest from several schools that seem serious about observing him in the coming months.

Simmons will be at Charlotte (N.C.) North Carolina Tech for one semester. He plans on enrolling at an FBS school in January if the opportunity arises, and for now his hopes are high.
"I got up here on July 6th so I started real early," he said. "I should be finished in December.
"A lot of ACC schools are showing interest. NC State, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest ... they just called. Then the real shocker was when my coach said he got a call from Texas A&M. They said they need a QB real bad and heard I was up here.
"Some other schools that were interested, like Temple, Rutgers, Eastern Michigan and Middle Tennessee, said they would be recruiting me."
A coach from Middle Tennessee will be coming to one of Simmons' games this fall, and the NC State coaches have invited Simmons to attend one of their home games in Raleigh.
