Prep lineman Minnick makes his pick

Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy offensive lineman Markeith Minnick made a decision this past weekend. The 6-foot-6, 295-pounder made his choice on an official visit.
"I spent a lot of time with Coach Fuente," he said. "He was really interested in me and liked me. He offered and I committed.

"I committed to Memphis because I want to major in psychology and found out how good it was there. I was ecstatic when I did it. I really liked it there."
What else made Minnick pick the Tigers?
"The coaches are really cool and nice," he said. "They were cool with me and really truthful and honest. They made me feel good.
"They also talked about the need for me at tackle, that's what I want to play down there. I also have a pretty good chance of playing. If I keep doing what I've been doing, I'll be good when I get there."
A number of other factors played into it for Minnick.
"It was kind of similar to home, Philadelphia," he said. "It was a good place and I had fun.
"I felt really comfortable there. I thought it was a place I could go, a special place for me. The feeling I got from everybody there made me feel good.
"I also like the fact it's a new coaching staff, a new theme and everything is brand new."
Minnick plans to enroll at Memphis on January 12th.
