Prep LB Coleman decides

Princeton (N.J.) Hun School linebacker Donald Coleman made his choice earlier this evening. The 6-foot-0, 210-pounder decided between offers for Iowa, Minnesota and NC State.
"I went ahead and committed earlier tonight to NC State," he said. "I committed around six. I called Coach O'Brien, my dad, sister and I got on a conference call and I told him I wanted to join the Wolfpack family.

"He was excited about that and I told him I was going to work hard and do the best I could."
What made the prep school prospect select the Wolfpack?
"I felt a connection with Coach Reed," he said. "The minute he came up in November he offered me a scholarship the first time he saw me.
"Coach Reed is a great guy, a young guy that comes from the same kind of thing I do. He only had one offer out of high school from Boston College. I was kind of like that last year. I fell under the radar and my high school coach told me I wasn't good enough to play college football. I worked hard in the offseason and my prep coach worked with me. Coach Reed made the best of his situation too and made it to the NFL. I believe if I continue to work hard under Coach Reed he can get me to do great things too."
Did anything else stick out about State?
"Ever since they offered me I've liked the Wolfpack," he said. "After going to Iowa this past weekend, I think NC State is the best place for me academically, athletically and socially.
"I like that the program is on the rise. I like Coach O'Brien and his track record. He doesn't bounce around. Everywhere he has been they have won eight to ten games a year and are a perennial winner. I do believe NC State will be able to win the ACC and do great things."
As far as playing, Coleman is expected to make the move to strong safety at the next level.
"Coach O'Brien told me I'll earn every minute I play, that's the way I feel about it too," he said. "I'm not asking for anything. I just want to go in and work as hard as I can and be the best player I can be.
"I played linebacker this year in space. I just have to learn the system. I think I can make the transition."
As for his enrollment, Coleman is looking to possibly get to State next month.
"It's definitely a chance I could enroll on January 7th," he stated. "I've got to sit down with my coach and father and make a decision. More than likely that is going to happen."
