NC State picked up a pledge on Sunday from Oak Ridge (N.C.) Oak Ridge Military Academy defensive tackle Carlos Gray. The 6-foot-4, 321-pounder selected the Wolfpack over a number of other offers.
"I committed to NC State on Sunday," he said. "I told Coach O'Brien, he was excited."
According to Gray, he had other offers including Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia and Georgia Tech.
What made him select the Pack?
"I felt like I was at home there," he said. "Anytime I went for a game I felt like that's where I wanted to play at. I've been to every home game this season.
"I like the defensive line. Their nose guard is going to graduate and all the rest of their linemen are freshmen and sophomores, I can take that."
The coaches were a factor for Gray as well.
"I really like Coach Willis and Coach Reed, and Coach O'Brien," he said. "Those are some good coaches, they've sent a bunch of people to the league. Plus, I know they are straight up, that's what I need."
Gray plans to enroll at NC State in January.
He gave a final thought on his decision.
"I just like it out there, it's a nice place."
