Prep CB Banks makes a decision

Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy cornerback Ishmael Banks officially committed yesterday. Where is the 6-foot-0, 185-pounder headed?
"I committed to West Virginia actually on Monday," he said. "They kind of had a verbal offer out and told me to wait as they took it back to Coach Stewart.

"Then, they called yesterday at about 5:45 and told me they accepted the commitment and, 'Thanks for being a Mountaineer.'"
Banks is hoping to enroll in January, but due to academics may have to wait till summer.
What made him pick the Mountaineers?
"Well, I went up there when I was going into my sophomore year," he said. "We had a team camp and they were the first school I ever went to. I could kind of see myself there. Also, it helps that two of my teammates, Marquis Wallace and Trey Johnson are going too. That makes it even better.
"I also like Coach Beatty. He was my recruiting coach and he's a real down-to-earth guy and a cool person. You can say he's been real with me and I like that.
"I also like that they are a team that plays with swagger. I like to play that way and like that type of team for the next four years."
Banks plans to take his official to West Virginia on January 8th.
Banks held offers from Western Kentucky, Georgia State, Marshall and Kent State as well.
