Pozderac makes summer switch

Offensive tackle Nic Pozderac didn't anticipate moving schools in between his junior and senior year. However, after speaking with his father, Phil Pozderac who played in the NFL, the Pozderacs decided that it was time to head to a different program to finish out his high school career.
One scholarship offer has come in from Houston, but the 6-foot-4, 280-pounder thinks that more will come being at a new high school program this fall. The talented young man will be playing at Dallas (Texas) Episcopal School this fall rather than Carrollton (Texas) Newman Smith.

"We just felt that it would be a better environment for me over at Episcopal," Pozderac said. "We though it was a good route to take to better myself academically and athletically."
Newman Smith went 3-7 last year and 2-5 in district competition. Pozerac's father felt like this would be good for his son.
"It's just not the right place for him at Newman Smith and even though I had some problems with scheming issues, that wasn't why we decided it would be best for Nic to move," Pozderac's father said. "This is just a better situation for him and it may condition him better to continue his football career."
There is also a possibility that Pozderac, a senior-to-be, could earn an extra year of eligibility. That would make him a December graduate in the class of 2008 rather than 2007.
"I think I'm going to be a senior this year and graduate with the (2007) class," Pozderac said. "There is a chance that I could have an extra year and be a junior. We'll just have to see about that."
Boston College, SMU, and Northwestern are all schools that are showing interest in Pozderac along with Houston.
