POY is picking up steam

Free safety/running back A.J. Scott (5-11, 210, 4.55) from Palm Springs, Calif., is beginning to see his recruitment heat up. The reason it slowed down was because he didn't have a qualifying test score. But according to Palm Springs assistant offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator Scott Saunders, Scott is fully qualified and the interest is picking up in the two-star athlete.
"Just yesterday UCLA requested his transcripts," Saunders said. "Wyoming is coming by the school to see Scott."

Utah is once again showing interest in Scott, and just before the holidays, former USC assistant and now Ole Miss head coach, Ed Orgeron, came by the school personally.
Orgeron visited Scott during on that day. He was very interested in Scott so it wouldn't be farfetched if the Rebels came through with an offer.
Scott had a terrific senior season and was selected the SS CIF Division VIII Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for 2,261 yards and 38 touchdowns.
Scott's versatility is one of the reasons that he is beginning to pick up some steam on the recruiting front. Though he is a great running back, he could end up as a safety on the D-I level.
As a receiver out of the backfield, Scott is lethal. He caught 37 passes for 632 yards and five touchdowns. The talented running back even scored 12 two-point PAT's.
On the defensive side of the ball, Scott was just as impressive. He had 100 tackles, four interceptions and one fumbler recovery from his safety position.
The good news is according to Saunders, Scott doesn't care what position he plays on the D-I level, he just wants to help the team.
Also, because of his prowess as a wrestler, Scott has incredible balance. He won his weight division's CIF Section wrestling championship as a junior and again is a favorite to take state.
