Powell is taking unofficials

Wide receiver Carvin Powell continues to hold a handful of scholarships. The Chesapeake (Va.) Great Bridge prospect took one unofficial recently and plans to head on another very soon.
"North Carolina and NC State are looking at me," he said. "I went to NC State a couple weeks ago when they played East Carolina. They basically asked what the chances were I would go there and then said they'd offer on the spot if I decide on them."

What did Powell think of NC State?
"It was nice," he said. "The chemistry was good, I got to meet some of the players and coaches. They have a great atmosphere. They came in and played hard. They have an impressive staff and played a highly ranked team in ECU."
Powell is looking at the Tar Heels as well.
"I'm high on North Carolina," he said. "I'm planning to visit there on November 8th for the Boston College game. That will be an unofficial. They haven't offered yet, they want to see more film.
"I have been watching them the past couple games and they are playing good football. I went up there in tenth grade and met the staff and I was impressed. I like the atmosphere, it's a beautiful school."
Powell continues to hold offers from Army, Ball State and East Carolina. He is also receiving interest from West Virginia still.
The two-star prospect has posted 22 receptions for 400-yards and four touchdowns this year.
"The season isn't what was expected, right now we're 4-4 and have a slim chance of going to the playoffs," he said. "I'm doing good on both sides of the ball. My leadership is better."
