Powell adds two major offers

New Freedom (Pa.) Susquehannock athlete Chaz Powell had one of the biggest and best days at the recent State College NIKE Camp. It was so big that shortly after the camp he received word that he had picked up offers from Penn State and Georgia. He knew he definitely had a big day and the camp was something he felt really helped his stock.
"They said I ran a 4.44, which was my best 40 time I've had," Powell, who measured in at 6-foot-1 and 184 pounds, said. "I was a little worried coming in here. At other camps I've ran 4.45, but to run a 4.44 electronic was really neat. Then I did well in the other areas in the camp, so that really helped me out quite a bit."

Powell worked out at the camp at defensive back, and even though he's listed as an athlete it's easy to see why teams like him on the defensive side of the ball. He showed fluid coverage skills, great hips and an amazing change of direction.
"I think a lot of schools like me as a safety," he said. "I'll be honest and tell coaches that I'll play anywhere they want me to, as long as I get a chance."
Powell also tested in other areas well, too, so it's no surprise more offers popped up.
"I already had offers from UConn, Delaware and James Madison," Powell said. "Maryland, Boston College and Akron were teams that were close to offering me. And Penn State had been talking to my coach before this."
Powell admits that the Nittany Lion offer is a dream one for him.
"I grew up a big Penn State fan," he said. "Ever since I moved here, I've just liked them a lot."
The Georgia offer is also impressive, just like his stock, which has absolutely exploded ever since last Saturday.
