Potter collecting options

Caleb Potter isn't a undiscovered talent. Not these days. Instead, the Orange Coast (Calif.) Community College linebacker has enough early buzz surrounding him to ensure that most colleges in the market for a stopgap at the position will eventually take a look.
With six scholarship offers already to his name and other schools inquiring weekly, Potter already has a bit of a wanderlust. There's travel to be done and campuses to check out. He'll hit the road to get a look … eventually.

"I'm having some issues with me not have an ID right now, but I want to take some visits when I get a new one," Potter said. "I'm hoping to get some unofficial visits in late this summer and then do a lot during next season. The schools that have been talking to me that I for sure want to head to are Kansas, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Kentucky and Texas State."
Originally from Dallas, Potter is most familiar with the schools in his home state. It's why his list of possible visit destinations includes so many. When put on the spot to name a frontrunner at this juncture, though, he looks away from the Lone Star State.
"Ole Miss is a little bit ahead right now, but they aren't blowing everyone away or anything," he said. "Plus, I don't even have an offer from them yet. I wouldn't say they are a favorite. They are just ahead by a very little."
The theme of Potter's recruitment at this point is uncertainty. The Rebels' small lead could be erased at any moment and his list of offers and possible visits is subject to change. Potter, who plans to leave Orange Coast in December, is more certain about what he's looking for in a college than anything else.
"My decision is going to be based on which school has my major and a good program to help me with math -- tutors and stuff. The one thing I'm not good at is math, so a good program to help me with that is important. Also, a place with good coaches and a program with tradition."
Potter attended Arlington (Texas) Bowie High School and graduated in 2013. In nine games as freshman at Orange Coast a season ago, he recorded 62 total tackles.
